Man and War

Sunday, February 22, 2009

Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out…and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel ... and in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man" — with his mouth.
- Mark Twain

very true.
Any war is unwanted and any good done for humanity is less than required.

Development of aircrafts and ships, advances in surgical science, science of logistics, new medicines, entire fucking field of electronics. All this and just about every other modern technology used today has been a direct result of research and development carried out during World War II. Purging of small percentage of humans for the radical advancements in science and technology is not that bad.

Apart from that there is a biological justification for war too. Every individual of a species is trying to survive. IF he has to go to war for it then so be it.
As for why no other species wages war against it own kind is because none of them are smart enough to do it. But battle for social dominance exists in every species. Male rhinos fight other male rhinos to fuck the most beautiful female rhino around. If rhinos were as smart as other humans then they would form alliances and collectively plot to kill the most handsome rhino in the jungle and thus gain the chance of fucking the rhino beauties which otherwise they might not have had a chance with before.

There were no small purges , there were genocides .. You can afford to say all this because you were not some Pole, Jew, Russian and German in Europe at that point of time...

Regarding the "smartness" of humans to wage wars, well I do not say how can diverting money meant to build schools to make tanks be termed as smartness. And then there is another choice we need to make someday- between smartness and wisdom .
