Is this our biggest humiliation after the defeat of 1962?

Is the attack or rather say, massacre at Mumbai the most humiliating incidence in Indian history after the defeat of 1962 ? I was not born much after the China War but my parents recall how great was the feeling of humiliation in India at that time, a black stain on the conscience which was washed only after the war of 1965. What do we need to do to wash the blood stains this time?

Today as an Indian, I feel humiliated. When I see the charred remains of Taj, the blood at CST, the grief of the people and the atrocious guts of the terrorist, my head hangs in shame at the ineptitude with which we are securing the boundaries of our nation. I feel threatened more than I have been even after all those bomb blasts. Its like a big psychological jolt for me. My confidence in India as a strong nation seemed to have sagged a little.

This was not just any attack, it has showed the proverbial chinks in our Armour, has shown how vulnerable we and our lives are.

It exposes a big Security scam, from the Coast Guard to the Intelligence to the Police Forces. Just think of it, it was the Mumbai police with a so called trained "ATS". What will happen if this happens in states/ cities where we have just potbellied ordinary 303 rifle wielding policemen. NSG will again take 10 hours to arrive, how many civilians, policemen and buildings will we loose by then? The terrorists have been successful in their first experiment, next time the will come with more dynamite and RDX to blow up whole localities. Will our RAW, IB blah blah "protect" us then in the same manner they have been doing till now?

We need a big shake up in the whole structure. We still are far from being a zero tolerance nation towards Terrorism (in fact, our tolerance seems to be the highest after Iraq). I wonder when will we shake our selves up from this indifferent sleep.

Till all this is done, will our government be "potent" enough to reply back to this National Shame in a "Munich way" ? Will we Indians be able to get our revenge?

What do you feel ?

Hmm.. perhaps this is the soonest comment any blogger would have got..

It wasn't that we really did anything in 1965, opportunity presented itself in those days.. we didn't grow a pair to do anything immediately after 1962.

Hopes remain now.. for the next government.. the present dichotomy in powers + coalition politics have ridden the state machinery of any coherent response.. to do something.

Yes Karmasura I agree, this is the fastest comment.

In 1965 we did not do much, but we repulsed a better equipped army and managed to not only defend our nation but capture their own territories. In short we dismissed the notion that Indians are soft nation and they cannot win wars, further proved in 1971. Don't you think a similar action is needed?
This time the stain is not black but red and the "stain remover" must be redder.

Somehow, I cannot debate on this blog, after all, we're of the same kind of mental make up comrade..

Let's see, the holy land is already mobilizing along the border. Perhaps an opportunity presents itself?

Im so tired of people telling me I dont know why you are so upset, it will keep happening and we can do nothing about it.

Im so angry, furious and agitated. Why shouldnt I be furious? Why shouldnt I be angry? Yesterday, things got back to normal. Today, Im going to the very same CST station. Im prepared to avoid all that will remind me of that incident. But I will not. I dont want to forget this. I want my anger to never die. After all it is what will mobilise those in power to do something. I may not the power of physically doing something. But I do have the power to make others angry about this too and make those in power to hear my our voice. We should not let this die...

Ya they keep telling India is safe after each blasts. They keep saying India is financially stable after each hit on economy... I think we should give CPIM a try. We should replace our political leaders with Younger educated energetic ones.[of course old guys should be with them to guide]. This is a nation which had people to speak even for the ones who attacked the parliament. Shame on us. I think all should agree upon hanging the terrorists even on the most holy day of the religion they belongs to.

And a request that see the terrorists as terrorists. They are not muslims or hindus. I think we should create a another unit like army, navy to hunt terrorists.. just to kill them...

Jai Hind.. n bro u are a comrade of mine. INQUILAB ZINDABAD

How do you like this Idea to sort out the people who attacked Mumabai(India) Locate the people who planned the attack. Locate the people who trained these boys. Locate the fathers of all these ten boys. This list will be around 30 people of Pak. Muster up Rs300 crores(peanut for India). So it come to 10 crores per head. Hire people in Afganistan to eliminate them at this rate of one per 10 crore.( For this kind of money gangs in Afganistan and Pakistan will kill thier own mothers) After killigs condemn the killigs and express sorrow. Amen. Comments please

I don't know if I should say this or not. The recent turn of events, the turmoil, all the chaos, I don't know what to say. I am from Pakistan and I have no idea on how to express my condolences for all those who lost their lives.

So many times have we seen that whenever we put blame on each other, someone else turns out to be behind the scenes. It is quixotic to consider Pakistan behind the homicide at this point.

The pain is not new to us. Since the partition there has been emotional and psychological torture by politicians on both sides of the border. The only thing I can say is that I feel sorry for this rampage. Can't type now-tears are making my eyes blurry. I know how it is to lose loved ones...On 27th December 2007..In Karachi...God, this is painful!

I don't think Indian leadership has the guts nor the real capability to cross the border and not suffer for it..

This is the last thing we need. Let us all work together to sort this terrorism business..

@The Luscious one!
Did I talk about crossing the border? It will be like making another Iraq. We have enemies within and its time to deal with them. As for the "guests" coming from across the border, a Mossad way of revenge will be enough.
