Total Revolution around the corner ?? Can we see?

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

It was just another afternoon in 1974, the only difference being the electric discontent flowing through the mammoth gathering of people assembled at the Gandhi Maidan of Patna. After a few speakers had talked and left, a fragile 70 year old man comes on the stage. He throws a challenge to the regime:

“Do raah samay ke rath ka gharghar naad suno,
Simhasan khaali karo ki janata aati hai !"

Give way; listen to the roar of the chariot of time
Vacate the throne, here comes the public!

This was the starting of the Bihar Movement, what later came to be known as the “Total Revolution”. The Indian youth which was in need of a pillar of inspiration to rally around came out in full force and gave a befitting reply to the bunch of corrupt sycophants who used to believe that Indira was India.

Today in 2011, another 73 year old man stands up and challenges the remnants of the same regime, more corrupt and immoral than ever. Does the youth of India today has the guts to support Anna Hazare as they supported Jayprakash Narayan two generations back? Or does our patriotism starts and ends with Cricket only?

I wonder …
